Close to the centre of Ross-on-Wye, Merrivale Farm is a new housing development. It comprises two apartment blocks - The Buttery and The Stable each providing four flats. In addition to the four detached houses, there are also 2 linked sets of town houses, the first set links three properties, and the second set links 2 properties. All are set in a large communal garden, including a lake, on the edge of town, with a very attractive outlook.
The development is set behind a castellated folly wall originally built to screen Merrivale House from its farmyard. Part of the folly wall includes an important local landmark - Turnock's Tower - built in the late nineteenth century as part of an engine house which supplied the big house, its Vinery and Glasshouses, with hot water. Like the tower, the communal garden at Merrivale Farm has been restored with retained ponds, vistas and specimen trees to convey the character of the farm in its heyday.
Currently five properties are available for purchase, and we anticipate build out of the site by September - October 2006.
